GSEF Project Funding: Spring 2012

The Graduate Studies Endowment Fund is pleased to announce three winning applications for GSEF project funding in Spring 2012!

  • $3,750 for a printer, labeling software, labels, and barcode scanner for the Water Resources Lab.
  • $900 for new lounge furniture (tables, chairs, and a microwave) for the Civil and Environmental Engineering Grad Students Association.
  • $6,100 towards the purchase of an automated microfilm scanner for Special Collections at Dana Porter Library.

Report from the Project Review Committee

The project review committee received 10 applications for GSEF funding this term. After our first meeting, five of these applications were rejected – two groups had received GSEF funding in previous terms for similar or identical projects/events, while the other rejected applications did not meet GSEF criteria relating to quality and value.

For the remaining five projects, the committee collected further information and conducted site visits where required. Based on these details the committee voted to recommend funding for the three projects listed above. The recommendation was approved by the GSEF Board of Directors on July 25th. Successful applicants have until the end of December 2012 to spend their award.
